About 15 years ago, a controversy about silicone gel filled implants was launched in the U.S. resulting in a ban of these implants up to 3 years ago.
They where supposedly responsible for rheumatic diseases, auto-immunitary diseases and cancer.
None of this stood the test of numerous scientific investigations that invariably concluded that there was no correlation between implants and diseases.In Europe these implants were not banned at all.
This is the position of the FDA as of today
